Update on Erritsø case: The attacker has turned himself in but claims that the attack was not racially motivated. Danish law requires that racial bias be the MAIN motivation of the crime in order for it to be considered a hate crime. International law includes partial motivation in their definition. In other words, if the attacker claims any other motivation as the main reason for this attack, then there is a high possibility that the attack will not be considered a hate crime despite the victim’s claim and racial insults spoken.This is why citizens in Denmark have created a proposal to change Danish hate crime laws to include partial motivation.
