He becomes very fascinated by these people, who live in a climate that is very different from his own. This makes him decide to move there and become a hunter. The journey there takes 8 years through Africa and Europe, but eventually he reaches the Kalaallites. He arrives in Qaqortoq (Julianehåb) on the south coast of Greenland.The book is a travelogue, describing the differences and similarities he finds between life in Greenland and life in Togo, and is set in the 1960s.The author was awarded the Prix Littéraire Francophone in 1981 for this book.
